Waited and waited to get this book at the library and ended up ordering it from another branch. Didn't live up to my expectations. It could have been so much better. The first half was so boring, that it felt neverending. I couldn't identify with any of the characters because the author wrote in such standoffish forms. Brooke is hung up on her married former lover and he's a sleazeball. When you can't like or empathize with at least one character, its hard to enjoy it. The setup and basic plot of the story seemed really interesting and I liked that the Newton data was well-researched, but the story just got bogged down by the author's 2nd person ramblings. It could have been a lot shorter or telling it in 1st person would have been a huge improvement. The plot twist was good, and probably the only redeeming quality to the book, but I wouldn't say that's the best part of the ending...just ending it was good. I feel like I accomplished a personal goal to finish this book, to make myself finish it. I guess I would have liked the story better had it not focused so much on Cameron and Brooke and more on the murder mystery and ghost story itself.
